Obstacles

This past Sept. I was on Ancetry try to trace mom's family( Leise/ Stein),when I noticed on the homepage that someone was saving records of mom's family. I debated as to contact that person or not. I did and offered pictures of the family. In return I got shut down by a very rude person and the tree proceeded to block me  and in return I did the same. On Nov 5, I worked on the same family,and came across a record of mom's family with the same rude tree, but with a name change. How did I know it was the same tree? It stated you have blocked this tree. No matter how many times you change the name of a tree, if you block that tree it will stay with it. I found what I was looking for and alot more. Headstone photos. obituaries,and the entries that the other tree had put in. Persistance can pay off if you stick with it,and you do need alot of patience. I feel on top of the world. I did not let on very rude tree and the person attatched to it stop me from finding what I wanted. KEEP SEARCHING!

Thomas S Portsmouth

Thomas S Portsmouth is a cousin and awhile back I asked findagrave for a photo of his headstone,never thinking that there was no headstone. When I received an email from Findagrave stating success, you can click on the link. I did and I could not stop laughing. The photo was a patch of green grass. Thomas died in Ann Harbor,Michigan in 1902, apparently with no headstone. On Oct 23rd ,I received another email from Findagrave with a  noreply. His obituary was added, and the green grass photo is still on. I still cannot stop laughing.Why it sets me off,I do not know. Thomas is making his relatives laugh long after he died,especially me.

Elusive Finds!

This past week Cheryl and I have found many elusive relatives while searching the Pittsburgh ,Pa. newspapers. These elusive finds would not happen if this information were not on the internet. I still get excited when I find anyone. It takes one name that can lead to a whole generation of a family  of that elusive family find. This past week there has been seven names that have been found and a lot added to the family tree.   Keep searching, you never know unless you try.

The First Post

This is a blog about my desire to pursue the genealogy of my family and the branches that extend and intersect. I know how much the pursuit of the knowledge I wish to acquire has enriched my life!  I have met wonderful folks, that are related as well as ones that were just plain helpful!  I will share bits and pieces here of the wondrous information I have been able to come across.  I partner with folks, primarily Barbara Patch, and research on the computer mostly.  All of the information here  is not found by me alone but by many that have pursued the knowledge of past generations!
